Virat Patel is the Managing Director of Pioneer Consulting Asia, a management consultancy specialising in telecoms, media and digital in Asia. He is based in Singapore. He has extensive experience in strategy, business planning, and in performance improvement and has worked in Asia, Europe and North America. His recent work has covered Pay-TV, OTT, IOT, smart cities, fibre networks, 5G as well as enterprise services. He has first-hand industry experience with telcos, and he is a Chartered Engineer with a BSC in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from University of Birmingham, UK and holds MBA from London Business School.

SKY Perfect JSAT is a leading satellite operator in the Asia-Pacific region providing high-quality satellite communications to its customers. With a fleet of 17 satellites, including 4 satellites covering Indonesia, it offers a wide range of services including video distribution, SNG, data communications and disaster-recovery solutions in Asia, Oceania, Russia, and North America. It also operates the largest Direct-to-Home satellite broadcasting platform, SKY PerfecTV!, in Japan which provides over 350 channels to around 3 million households.
In 1991, Ikeno joined to a former Japanese satellite operator, Space Communications Corporation (merged with SKY Perfect JSAT in 2008). During his career, he had been in charge of a wide range of the company’s activities, including sales, marketing, product development of fully-managed telecommunication services to Japan’s domestic customers, satellite capacity wholesale to customers outside of Japan, as well as strategic partnerships with various satellite operators. Since 2015, he has been assigned as the Chief Representative at Jakarta Office, serving the customers in Indonesia, the market where the company puts its primary focus on.

Imran Malik
Imran Malik, heads up the SES Networks regional sales team which is responsible for business development across the Asia-Pacific regions.
Imran Malik has more than 20 years of experience in the field of Satellite Communications. Prior to joining SES Networks Imran served as the CEO of Supernet Ltd., the leading data communications service provider in Pakistan, for six years. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of PAKSAT International which operates the PAKSAT-1R satellite. A pinnacle of Imran’s career includes his time as a board member at Telecard Limited, a telecommunications service provider listed on the Karachi stock exchange in Pakistan. In early 1999 Imran joined Lockheed Martin Global Telecommunications (LMGT), a wholly owned subsidiary of the aerospace giant Lockheed Martin. Prior to this Imran was posted to Singapore as a key member of a joint venture with General Electric (GE) called Americom Asia-Pacific (AAP) for the launch and operation of two communications satellites covering the Asia-Pacific region. All this followed his initial career start with Hughes Network Systems back in 1990.
Imran has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Oklahoma and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering degree from Purdue University.

Barrie Woolston is AsiaSat’s Chief Commercial Officer. Barrie is responsible for leading the global sales team, as well as driving marketing and commercial activities of the Company. Barrie has 30 years of experience in the Technology,Media,Telecom sectors, with a wealth of solid experience in managing sales teams and driving new business.
Prior to joining AsiaSat in February 2017, he was employed by Arqiva Limited between 2003 and 2016 as the Commercial Director of Satellite and Media. Before that, Woolston held various sales, marketing, product management and operations positions with leading brands globally.

Jacques-Samuel Prolon

Jacques-Samuel has over 20 years’ experience in senior telecommunications and IT roles. He is familiar with the challenges of scaling-up companies, building world-class operational teams and managing strategic partnerships on the global stage. Before joining Kacific he spent a decade working for language technology solutions company, Appen Butler Hill, helping take it from start-up to a global leadership position.
As Senior Vice President Operations, he led project teams in North and South America, Europe, Asia and Australasia. Prior to that he worked for Altran Europe, providing project management and infrastructure optimisation services to Philips, Solvay Group, BASE, Sud Presse and British Telecom.
He holds an eMBA from the AGSM and two masters degrees, including a telecommunications engineering degree from a French grande ecole, Telecom Sud Paris. Like other members of the Kacific team, Jacques-Samuel is strongly committed improving the economic wellbeing of Pacific nations.

Blaine Curcio
Northern Sky Research (NSR)
Mr Curcio joined NSR in 2012, following a position as project manager in Shenzhen, China, and is the lead author of NSR‘s Global Satellite Capacity Supply & Demand (GSCSD) report, Satellite Operator Financial Analysis (SOFA) report, and Satellite Capacity Pricing Index (SCPI) report. As head of NSR’s satellite finance practice, Mr Curcio’s areas of coverage include development of HTS, how macro industry trends impact operator finances, and global satellite supply. He regularly leads consulting projects related to asset valuation, business model validation, and contract analysis.
Mr Curcio has previously worked with SES in The Hague as a strategic marketing intern, where he helped develop a strategy to increase the company‘s share-of-wallet with key European customers. His prior consulting experience also includes a market-entry strategy project for SGS International, aiding the company’s entry into the Mainland Chinese market. Blaine speaks English, Chinese, and Italian. He obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in International Business from Illinois State University, and is currently working towards a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology HKUST).

He also spent 13 years in CELCOM (mobile operator), handling many senior management positions. Prior to Celcom, he spent 10 years as an Assoc. Professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He was the Adjunct Professor for UTM from 2008 to 2013 and UTHM (2005-2005, 2013-2016). Dr.Mazlan is a frequent speaker in many major & established IOT, Smart Cities and telco conferences locally and globally. He has served as MOSTI’s Innofund, Technofund and Science Fund (ICT Cluster) Technical & Commercial Evaluation Committee and sits in Industry Advisory Panel (IAP) for several local universities. Michael Cornwell

Michael Cornwell is the Chief Technology Officer at Pure Storage, overseeing technology leadership and market development in Asia Pacific and Japan. Michael was one of the founding engineers of Pure Storage who established the company’s operations across Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand and ASEAN following the office opening in October 2014.
Michael joined the company from Sun Microsystems where he served as Lead Technologist for Flash Memory. He was responsible for the development of NAND flash memory technology for Server and Enterprise applications including the first NAND designed for enterprise applications in partnership with Samsung Semiconductor. Michael led the creation of the world’s fastest storage system, Sun Storage F5100 Flash Array, utilising all-flash design and core building block in TPC record-breaking transactional database machine developed by Sun/Oracle. Previously, he was the Manager of Storage Engineering for the iPod division of Apple, Inc. In this role, Michael was instrumental in the adoption of NAND flash in Apple products including iPod and iPhone.
Prior to joining Apple, Inc., Michael worked at Quantum Corporation as a Storage Architect focused on storage telemetry, virtual tape and disk-based backup technologies. Michael holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of California at Santa Cruz. He has 36 U.S. patents awarded in flash and other storage technologies.
